The University of Baguio School of Dentistry made a stellar performance during the 4th International Multidisciplinary Research Conference held at the Emilio Aguinaldo College, Cavite campus on December 12-13, 2024.
This annual event bolstered collaboration between schools through research and provided an opportunity for students and professionals to showcase their hard-earned research. The University of Baguio’s delegation was spearheaded by the school’s Director for Research, Innovation, and Community Outreach (RIECO), Dr. Donnavilla Marie Panday, who also served as one of the plenary speakers with the topic of “Social Equity and Sustainability”. Her lecture provided valuable insights into the University’s research process and how this process contributed to the true meaning of social equity and sustainability.
Alongside Dr. Panday, two other speakers gave informative lectures. Prof. Dr. Diana Elizabeth Waturangi from Atma Jaya Catholic University, in Jakarta, Indonesia gave a very informative lecture on food safety and resilience research. Dr. Supachai A. Basit from the Emilio Aguinaldo College, Cavite also featured in his lecture on the ethical and proper use of AI in education.
The delegation also includes the following dentistry students and researchers: Jesse Jericho Go, Caila Lopez, Joi Mari Mina, Loise Lao, Beatricia Navor, Jesmin Geronda, Jaimelyn Fe Martinez, Krisha Jane Galang, Elisa Bianca Tagudar, Frency May Nazul, John Bernard Tavermin, Troy Kristoffer Jara, Krizzia Anne Dasig, Andrea Bantigue, Czyrheeze Binwag, Diah Elika Guanzon and Jairus Villa Agustin. The team consisted of 17 students who bagged numerous awards for their research including 3 Best Abstracts, 2 Best Paper under separate categories, one 1st Place Overall Best Research Paper, and another 2nd Place Overall Best Research Paper. They were accompanied by the school’s Research Anchor Person, Dr. Edgar Allan Pangisban, who also won 2nd place Overall Best Research Paper under the Professional Category.
This milestone would not have been possible without the guidance and support of the University of Baguio administration and the School of Dentistry’s faculty and staff specifically Dr. Ian Steve Bandaay, Dean of the School of Dentistry who encouraged and provided the means and support for the students to join the event, and Dr. Maria Lourdes Cantor for her unwavering guidance in research which culminated in the student’s outstanding performance.
